On My Big Green Tractor.....

We recently celebrated Texas Public Schools Week!!! It was fun filled week! We had Career Day and one of my students talked her Dad into driving his tractor up to school -- He is a local farmer and he and his wife came to talk to the students about the importance of farming and growing crops.  The kids LOVED listening to them and were SO excited when they got to climb up into the tractor to try out the driver's seat! A HUGE thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Mask for spending time with our class and teaching us about farming! 

2013 VFW Teacher of The Year!

I was recently awarded the 2013 VFW Teacher of the Year!!!!  I was so honored to even be nominated and needless to say...I was thrilled when I found out I won!!!  My principal, Mr. Dykes, nominated me for this award and it was based on teaching citizenship and fostering patriotism within the classroom. I have been an educator for 11 years and I honestly LOVE my job!!!  We are doing GREAT things at Lytle Primary!!!  I strive to instill a love for learning and develop a sense of pride in our community and our country.  I want my students to become responsible and caring members of our community.  They are our future!!!   I attended the VFW Banquet with my husband and boys.  It was a wonderful evening and a great honor!!! Thank you Lytle VFW for recognizing the hard work and dedication that goes into teaching!

I am honored to be a part of our campus Lighthouse Team and involved in The Leader In Me program at our school.  Our Lighthouse Team recently attended the 2013 Leader In Me Symposium in San Antonio, Texas.  It was an unbelievable and wonderful experience.  We were able to visit other schools to get some great ideas!!!  We heard Ron Clark and various other motivational speakers and were filled with fabulous ways to make Lytle Primary and our classrooms SHINE!!!

 This is without a doubt something that I strive to convey in my students.  I want them to know what they are special and unique.  I want them to use their talents to enhance our classroom . Within each of us.....there IS a LEADER!!!!
